REVIEW: Ghostbusters, Volume One: The Man From the Mirror

PLOT: Are you troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or any of your family ever seen a spook, specter, or ghost? If the answer is yes, call the professionals Psychokinetic energy is on the rise again, business is booming for the boys, and Ray is troubled by what could be a prophetic dream. Is this an ill omen of an upcoming apocaplypse, or just a little indigestion?

REVIEW: To start, I don't think I'd really be interested in these graphic novels if it weren't for the fact that the Ghostbusters movies are awesome. These comics are perfectly suited for fans of the original movies. What makes Ghostbusters so fun in graphic novel form, is that they're really able to capitalize off of the existence of the films. I really enjoyed all of the jokes and humor that referenced the original films, and though any reader could pick these up, there's definitely a little something extra for fans of the movies. The art is really great, vibrant and fits the style of comic that Ghostbusters should be. It has the same feel as the films, it's more about the comedy than the actual silly horrors they face. I also like the appearance of a guy in these dreams that looks exactly like a Blues Brother, and one could only wonder why. If you're a fan of Ghostbusters, these graphic novels are definitely written for you. These could be suitable for a younger audience as well, but there are some more mature jokes that never really point themselves out unless you know what's being talked about. This is definitely one of the better comics I've seen on the tame side of things, so bravo to the Ghostbusters comic crew. Nothing is more fun than when a comic book can be humorous and entertaining, and present all of that with a fun story that fans of the movie and newbies can enjoy.
